Josanne Mark Ltd.

is committed to creating jewelry that can be passed down from generation to generation. Since 2005, we have established and maintained the highest standards in design, materials and craftsmanship. With some simple, basic care, you can help preserve and protect your jewelry for years to come.

Here are some guidelines to follow:

We recommend that you:

Store your pieces separately in soft pouches or in an enclosed lined jewelry box to prevent scratches and tarnishing and to keep your pieces looking brand new.

We advise against:

Swimming, showering, sleeping or exercising while wearing jewelry.

Exposing jewelry to cleaning agents or cosmetics such as foundations, perfumes, hairsprays.

Exposing jewelry to excessive heat or prolonged periods of direct sunlight.

Use of commercial silver ‘dip’ solutions as they are unsuitable for cleaning oxidised, stone-set, pearl or plated jewelry and can cause surface deterioration.

Wearing delicate and plated jewelry on more than an occasional basis.

Pieces made solely of Silver are suitable for everyday wear unless it is a delicate design. It can be cleaned with a silver cleaning cloth. More difficult or stubborn tarnishing may require professional cleaning.

Matte silver is suitable for everyday wear unless it is a delicate design. The use of a polishing cloth is unsuitable for matte finish jewelry. It is recommended to wash matte silver with warm soapy water, rinse and pat dry or apply a paste made from bicarbonate of soda and water. Rub the paste on the jewelry piece, allow it to sit for a couple of minutes, then rinse in water.

Oxidised silver is suitable for everyday wear unless it is a delicate design. It is best to clean oxidised silver with a soft cotton cloth or wash with warm soapy water, rinse and pat dry. Do not polish with a silver cleaning cloth or the finish could be removed. Do not use silver dip as this can also remove the oxidation.

Swarovski Crystal is suitable for everyday wear but the wearer should be mindful of its fragility. Avoid directly touching the crystals as oil and moisture on your fingers leave unattractive fingerprints that dull the sparkle of your crystals. Take special care in handling crystal jewelry as it could chip or scratch if it is dropped on a hard surface. Clean after each wear. Wash with warm soapy water (dish washing liquid is recommended) rinse and dry with a soft cotton cloth.

Pearls are suitable for occasional wear only. Direct exposure to cosmetics and cleaning agents may affect the lustre and colour of the pearl. They should be cleaned with a soft damp cloth

Gold plate; including Vermeil, Heavy Gold Plate and Dipped Leaves are suitable for occasional wear only. Wash with warm soapy water, rinse and pat dry. Do not rub vigorously or the plating could be removed.

Dipped leaves:

Real leaves are dried and preserved (Dipped) in a light layer of precious metal (24k Gold, Fine silver or oxidized fine silver) This design is, by nature, delicate and should be handled with extra care as it can break far easier when compared to metal pieces.

Gold Fill is suitable for everyday wear unless it is a delicate design. Gold Fill consists of an actual layer of Karat Gold bonded to a base metal core and it can be worn and treated in the same way you would your 14k and 18k Gold. It can be cleaned using commercially bought dips or cleaning solutions and polishing cloths.

Exotic Wood, Horn and Bone is suitable for occasional wear only. The piece should never fall or knock on hard surfaces because they can be chipped, cracked or destroyed. They should not be exposed to moisture or excessive heat. Wooden Pieces are treated with natural oils and should not be left in a dry or humid area because there is a chance that the wood will crack. Please use a pure beeswax polishing compound, olive oil, or coconut oil to maintain the wood.
